Midnight on Mars
What would midnight on Mars, or any other planet, look like? The landscapes of Joshua Tree National Park feel otherworldly. To exaggerate this feeling, I infused the landscapes with artificial orange light.
The white tank granite rocks are formed when hot magma is pushed up and cools within the crust of a planet. These formations are estimated to be 135-155 million years old.
Water dissolves the structures and the wind washes away pieces, creating constant changes in the formations.
What would life look like on Mars? I created a distorted shadow to feed the imagination of what might be.
An Earth bound observer is illuminated from the red glow of Mars.
One day we may find ourselves on a planet reminiscent of home. But until then, Joshua Tree is only a car ride away.
